JD Vance IVF Childless Cat Ladies Comment

VP Harris Marks World IVF Day, Omits JD Vance Over ‘Childless Cat Ladies’ Comment

July 25 marks “World IVF Day” and Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is hoping everyone has a happy one — well, almost everyone.

An ironic press release from the Harris campaign on Thursday afternoon said, “Happy World IVF Day To Everyone Except JD Vance.”

It attacked the Republican party’s opposition to reproductive healthcare, focusing on remarks made by Vance in a now-viral interview from 2021, in which he famously dismissed those without children as “miserable” “childless cat ladies” who should have “no direct stake” in political decisions.

Of course, people did not take it well. The comment sparked negative responses from couples who are finding it difficult to have a child, the likes of Jennifer Aniston, a ‘Friends’ Star who has been very open about her fertility issues and the use of IVF to conceive.

This she said in response to Vance’s comment: “All I can say is, Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.”

“I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option, yes, because you are trying to take that away from her too.”

And Aniston isn’t alone. Last month, Vance actively contributed to preventing initiatives that would have preserved the right to IVF and defended doctors who perform it.

Such commentaries as the “cat ladies” remark are in line with Vance who voted against the law supporting IVF, and his boss Donald Trump, who vowed to wage ‘side by side’ with those against IVF, and who has yet to commit to overruling a law that would endanger IVF rights across the 50 states”, Sarafina Chitika the spokeswoman for Kamala Harris said.

“Trump, Vance, and their entire party have been very clear in showing that they oppose women and their family planning choices – the voters will stand up to that by voting for Kamala Harris this November,” Chitika added.

The drama did not begin here as well. In an interview with Fox News in 2021, Senator JD Vance referred to the US Vice President, Kamala Harris, as one of a group of ‘childless cat ladies’; this comment resurfaced when he became the Republican vice presidential nominee, and it received a good deal of outrage but also many rolled eyes.

Vance questioned Democrats in the video, such as Harris, U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, about their lack of having biological children.

Hillary Clinton didn’t take any of it. The video from the 2021 interview leaked to popularity after she posted the video to X “What a normal, relatable guy who certainly doesn’t hate women having freedoms,” she joked.

So, as World IVF Day rolls around, the debate about reproductive freedoms, political interests, and rather improper remarks will go on.

One thing’s for sure: Joe Biden finally chose Kamala Harris as his VP, and she and her campaign are not hiding anything when it comes to JD Vance. Happy World IVF Day indeed!
