Trump’s teeth take center stage as viewers wonder if he’s wearing dentures or retainer during his interview with Elon Musk.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s much-anticipated interview with billionaire Elon Musk finally began on Monday evening on Musk’s social media platform, X, after a significant delay caused by technical issues that prevented many users from accessing the live stream.
The event, originally scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. (0042 GMT Tuesday), began at 8:42 p.m.
Musk attributed the delay to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, a type of cyberattack that overwhelms a server or network with traffic to disrupt its operations, although this claim was not confirmed.
Despite the delay, over 1 million people were tuned in as the conversation commenced, according to a live counter on X.
As the interview progressed, several listeners on X noticed that Trump occasionally spoke with what sounded like a lisp.
Some remarked that this gave him a cartoonish quality, while others speculated that it might be due to audio compression issues.
A few even questioned whether Trump might be wearing dentures or retainer, suggesting that his speech sounded like his teeth were slipping.
“Def took his dentures out.” An X user said.
Another commented; ” OK, seriously there are two options. His dentures are falling out. Dude cannot pronounce words at all”.
In 2017, when questioned about Trump’s apparent verbal slip and speculation about him using a retainer or similar device, a White House spokesperson told Quartz that Trump was experiencing “dry mouth.” It remains unconfirmed whether the president wears dentures or any orthodontic appliance.
