Rashad Murphy, Foolio Murder Suspect, Arrested After Standoff

Rashad Murphy, 30, was unexpectedly captured late last night by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) working with the U.S. Marshals Service. Murphy was arrested inside a Collins Road apartment building.

Murphy is wanted for his suspected involvement in the shooting death of rapper Charles Jones, also known as Julio Foolio.

The operation required police reinforcement, and JSO CPR, Gang, and SWAT units were deployed to protect the apartment. People from the surrounding areas were asked to leave in order to avoid causality.

The UAS Unit and patrol units joined the negotiators in their extended talks with Murphy, encouraging a nonviolent surrender.

Throughout the siege, SWAT forces used a variety of tactics, leading to Murphy’s peaceful surrender at the end.

Murphy is apprehended as a Fugitive from Justice for murder in Tampa and is the fourth suspect arrested to be linked to the death of Foolio. The case is still ongoing, and police still looking for the other suspect who is at large; Davion Murphy.

Through the social media platform X, JSO verified Murphy’s arrest, stating that he was detained in relation to the local rapper Julio Foolio’s death. After a thorough investigation by police, Murphy was discovered in the Collins Road residence, a source from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office informed Action News Jax.

Eyewitnesses and Action News Jax reported observing Murphy being taken into custody at the scene. Since then, JSO has left the region, which was located on Jacksonville’s Westside in the Collins Preserve.

An X user had earlier reported that Murphy’s apartment was surrounded by police, with the suspect allegedly holding himself at gunpoint and refusing to surrender.

As of now, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not released further information, and the hunt for Foolio’s killer goes on as detectives follow all leads connected to the case.
