Missing Will County Woman Jennifer Tannhauser Found Dead in State Park

A Wilmington woman who had been missing for weeks was found dead in a state park.

The Wilmington Police Department received a report at approximately 4:45 p.m. on July 10 about Jennifer S. Tannhauser, a 41-year-old woman experiencing a mental health crisis.

Despite searching Wilmington and the surrounding areas, officers were initially unable to find Tannhauser.

Within 24 hours, police discovered Tannhauser’s vehicle near Warner Bridge Road in Kankakee County. Her remains were subsequently found in Kankakee River State Park on Wednesday.

An autopsy was conducted on Thursday, with the final cause and manner of death pending police and toxicology reports.

The Wilmington Police Department, along with the Illinois State Police, is investigating the incident.
