About JJT Park Ikeja 

Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park is an ultra-modern recreational built to honour three former Governors of the state, Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson (Rtd.), Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It was commissioned by the Former Governor of Lagos State (Akinwunmi Amobde) on December 13, 2017.

Ambode announced the park as part of efforts by his administration to immortalize those who worked hard for the development of Lagos as not only the Centre of Excellence but also one of Africa’s most prominent City States. The aim of establishing the park is mostly for relaxation and social gatherings too.

Opening Hours: Monday – Sunday, 9 am – 6 pm.

Gate fee: Free.

Location: 8B Regina, Omolara Street, Off Awosika Bus Stop, Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos.

When you go to this park, be ready to walk around. Things you could explore include:

  • Take pictures in front of the Lagos symbol statue (Eyo masquerade).
  • Pose in front of the rock that has the face of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

1. Great Place For Shoots

JJT Park Ikeja is a great place for shoots, to have a nice family time, couples, or friends to hang out with. Taking an Uber or other cab down to this place is easier. 

But visitors who can’t afford it can take a bus down to the secretariat from Berger or if they’re coming from the Island, can trek down to the park.

2. More Than 10 Persons Will Have To Pay

The entrance fee to the park is free for everybody, but groups of above 10 will have to pay 10k. Even if you’re only 11, you’ll pay N10,000.

3. Nice And Well-Maintained

JJT Park is nice and surprisingly well-maintained. Although some parts of it are under maintenance. The restroom is clean and taken care of, which guests found impressive. Being close to the Lagos State House of Assembly, locating this place should not be difficult.

4. Ideal Spot For Picnics

Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park is a nice place to hang out with your friends. No matter how many times you go there, you’ll have a good experience. You can rent mats which is recommended, as ants crawl on the floor. 

The park is not too loud, even with the music playing. The scenery is beautiful too, although having more free access games for guests will be nice. Overall, it is an ideal spot for picnics.

5. Amazing Experience

The Park comes highly recommended for any type of hangout or relaxation. The surrounding is clean, highly secured, and safe, the children’s playground is kid-friendly, there is a large chess game to play, a parrot you can converse with, and sitting areas with shelter in case of rain or too much sun.

JJT Park features picture-perfect views, easy to locate by private or public transport, as it is just beside the House of Assembly entrance behind the Alausa Secretariat. If you are someone who doesn’t enjoy much crowd, you can go here on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
